“Come and see the works of God, Who is Awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men.” (Psalm 66:5)
There is a clear reason why deceived people in our generation particularly “call evil good and good evil.” (Isaiah 5:20). It is a direct result of what is described by the prophet Isaiah just a few verses earlier. He wrote:
“therefore, My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge…”
Whatever “exile” might include, it certainly isn’t ‘freedom’ to live and flourish in the abundance created by our Creator in His awesome and naturally productive world.
In fact, the prophet defines clearly what the cause is.
“But they do not pay attention to the deeds of the Lord, nor do they consider the work of His hands.” (Isaiah 5:12b)
Do you suppose the outcome would be better if you and I would take seriously the commitment of Psalm 78:4?
“We will not conceal them from their children, but tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.”
If anyone should be declaring to this generation the truly awesome discoveries of how living things work, don’t you think it should be us? Those who fear God? Those who desire every precious child to be redeemed from destruction? When you think of awesome miracles like the monarch butterfly emerging from its chrysalis or the awesome way your body uses wholesome food nutrients like vitamin C to overcome disease – why should we passively allow this generation to be impressed by secularists, bent on ridiculous mythologies of ‘mother nature’ creating life by itself and high-sounding folklore about explosions creating the order of the universe by accident?
“One Generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts.” Psalm 145:4
If the Biblical pattern means anything at all in Psalm 145:4, then when is THIS ‘generation’ of believers going to start purposely and regularly ‘praising’ God’s ‘works’ to the next generation and openly “DECLARE” HIS “MIGHTY ACTS?”
Will you help me EQUIP those who have a heart to declare God’s mighty acts to the children of this generation? The promise of God’s Word in Psalm 78:7 should be motivating enough, shouldn’t it? Verse 6 even encourages us with the promise…
“that the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, that they may arise and tell them to THEIR children…”
And the glorious result?
“That they should put their confidence in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments.”
